Ciro Immobile is hoping his loan switch to Sevilla will turn into a permanent move.
The Italy international scored 22 Serie A goals for Torino in 2013-14, form that earned him a transfer to Borussia Dortmund, who were attempting to replace Robert Lewandowski after his transfer to Bayern Munich.
But Immobile failed to fire in the Bundesliga, making just nine league starts and scoring three times in 2014-15.
Immobile s season-long loan move was announced on Sunday before being officially presented as a Sevilla player 24 hours later.
For me it is an important year, because last year was not good, Immobile said.
It is beautiful to play in the Champions League and a new championship, I hope to do well.
I am very happy because Sevilla are …
Xherdan Shaqiri is buying a new house, which Stoke City manager Mark Hughes says is proof he is not on the brink of joining Roma.
The Switzerland international is shining in his second season with the club after joining from Inter in a £12 million deal in July 2015 and he netted two excellent goals in a 2-0 win at Hull City last time out.
Shaqiri s fine form has led to reports in Italy that Roma could be set to swoop in January, while the winger s brother and agent, Erdin, fuelled the speculation earlier this month by saying, never say never .
But Hughes has vowed not to sell the former Bayern Munich player and thinks he is settled at Stoke.
I ve heard the speculation, but that is all it is – speculation, Hughes told The Mirror.
There was a…
Market: Brighton win
Odds: 10/11 @
Two sides who find themselves battling it out at opposite ends of the Premier League table, Brighton will welcome Leicester to the Amex on Sunday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, after being left disappointed by their 2-1 loss away at Premier League returners Fulham earlier in the week, Brighton will be seeking an immediate response here. While Graham Potter s men might have seen their eye-catching start to the 2022/23 campaign come to an abrupt end in west London, the ex-Swansea boss should still find the mood in his camp at a real high. Only continuing to gain plenty of plaudits, the Seagulls still find themselves battling it out in the top-four. Shocking almost everyone across Europe as they marked their return from the s…
UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin declared European football must remain open to all clubs amid ongoing speculation concerning a breakaway Super League.
Although the majority of the Super League s founding members withdrew in the face of public and political pressure following a much-criticised launch last April, the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus remain committed to the project.
Florentino Perez, who was to be named Super League chairman, has continued to call for Europe s elite clubs to secede from UEFA, insisting the breakaway competition was still alive in June.
More recently, Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos backed the stance of the Blancos president by claiming: It [the Super League] should have been in operation for a long time .
But Cerf…
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini admits it would be difficult for his side to sign Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
Rooney was named on the bench for United s Champions League defeat to Real Madrid on Tuesday, sparking speculation the 27-year-old could be on his way out of Old Trafford at the end of the season.
The England international was reportedly a target for City in 2010, when the player publicly expressed his concern over United s ambition and long-term prospects.
Mancini, however, believes the striker will not be affected by the decision to leave him out of the starting line-up and an exit is unlikely.
I think that Rooney is one of the best strikers in Europe but I think it is difficult he can leave Manchester United, Mancini told r…
Newcastle have ruled out a move to bring in a new manager while Joe Kinnear recovers from a triple heart bypass operation.
Wigan manager Steve Bruce has been linked with the post but managing director, Derek Llambias, said he was confident coaches Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood could steer the club to Premier League survival.
Chris has done a good job, Llambias said. He is full of confidence. Colin is in there helping us and Joe is still in the background. We are happy with that situation, and that will take us through until the end of the season.
Kinnear, 62, was discharged from hospital on Saturday following his surgery and has been told not to consider returning to work for at least two months.
He is however in regular phone contact with Hughton…
Tottenham star Harry Kane is ready to prove his doubters wrong once more, insisting he is in no need of a rest.
Kane, 23, has made a mixed start to the season, scoring once in his team s opening five games in all competitions.
After his side suffered a 2-1 loss to Monaco in the Champions League on Wednesday, Kane again had his critics.
But he feels ready to go for Spurs Premier League clash against Sunderland on Sunday.
People said that this time last year and I went on to win the Golden Boot and score 30-odd goals for club and country, Kane said, via The Mirror.
People are going to talk people will talk. It doesn t bother me. I m fit, I m ready to go.
I ll be ready on Sunday, if called upon by the gaffer, and hopefully I can get on t…
Sunderland have been linked with a move for former Liverpool midfielder Jaoa Teixeira, .
The twenty-three year old moved to Porto in the summer having made just a handful of appearances for the Merseyside club, scoring just once.
During his time at Anfield, he had loan spells with both Barnsley and Brighton and Hove Albion, playing for the latter thirty-five times in the 2014/15 campaign, netting for them six times.
He is yet to make an appearance for his new club, so a return to the English top flight could well be on the cards with Sunderland looking to strengthen after a less than impressive start under new manager David Moyes.
The Black Cats lost at home to Crystal Palace on Saturday, a result which saw them drop to the bottom of the table and th…
Ajax head coach Erik ten Hag said Donny van de Beek could stay at the Eredivisie champions despite interest from Real Madrid.
Van de Beek has already confirmed Madrid are in talks with Ajax over his transfer as the LaLiga giants struggle to prise Paul Pogba from Manchester United.
However, it seems €60million target and 22-year-old Netherlands international Van de Beek will remain in Amsterdam.
[Van de Beek] only dedicates himself to playing, Ten Hag said ahead of Tuesday s second leg against PAOK, with the third-round Champions League qualifier locked at 2-2.
I guess and I hope that he stays with us this season.
Otherwise, I will hear from [Ajax s director of football,] Marc Overmars.

One of the most prominent Crystal Palace performers in the 2016/2017 season thus far, Wilfried Zaha, could be in line for a January exit, which would by all means come as a heavy blow for the Eagles’ new manager Sam Allardyce.
The 24-year-old winger wanted to leave Palace during the summer transfer window, but remained at Selhurst Park on a premise of a pay rise and improved contract, yet former Manchester United man is still on a £40,000 a week deal he signed in 2015.
And according to , Zaha is once again a target for Tottenham Hotspur who are poised to return for the flamboyant winger after a failed summer bid.
Spurs offered £21 million for Zaha earlier this year and are now believed to be willing to go an extra mile and offer £25 million in order to land…
